Celebrating our Members- Cambridge Glass

Cambridge Glass: it’s customer service and community at heart.

Owned by Glenn and Jos Philip, Cambridge Glass has been an integral part of the Cambridge community for almost 50 years. Jos and Glenn took over the reins 13 years ago, going from strength to strength and building a reputation for providing “local service you can TRUST”.

Growing immensely from its days of predominantly reglazing broken windows, Cambridge Glass have expanded into Splashbacks – both painted and digital imagery, frameless showers and are proud to be the only local Master Glaziers in Cambridge.

A very small and family focused business, the Cambridge team is made up of Glenn, Phil and apprentice Levi on the tools, with Jos and Raewyn in the office. The team pride themselves on being the ones to come up with a solution when others have said it can’t be done – a giant Tui on your Shower Screen? No problem.  Huge three-metre high shower doors with hidden hinges? No issue at all.  Cambridge Glass find the fix and get it sorted, problem solving and thinking outside the box. And they’re the only glass shop in town that offer a 24/7 emergency call out too.

Their skills were hugely recognised at the Master Glazier conference in Paihia last month – identified as being World Class on the IAG Service scale, Cambridge Glass were finalists in excellence, finalists in safety and received the highest ranking on the customer experience global scale. And Levi took out the award for best customer experience in the country as well as receiving the ranking of World Class as voted by IAG customers on their txt survey!

Owner Glenn is a born and bred Cambridge lad; schooled in Cambridge itself, he then went on to do his apprenticeship at the very place he now mans – Cambridge Glass! A volunteer firefighter (for 12 years), you may often catch him dashing across to the station when the siren sounds.

Jos comes from Kawerau (between Whakatane and Rotorua), moving to the town of Trees and Champs 19 years ago. With a background in banking, she is all about providing the best quality and bespoke custom product with excellent service and at a fair price.

Between running the business – as well as their new shop Waipa Glass in Te Awamutu that opened last year – raising three kids and taking on the role of soccer coach (Glenn as the named, Jos when the fire alarm sounds and he’s out on the truck) life is full on – but full on with enthusiasm. So much so, that the Philips even find the time to deck their house out with Christmas lights each December.
