Waipa Networks Business Awards 2010The 2010 Waipa Business Awards evening was full to capacity on Friday 23 July as entrants and supporters waited to hear the results of the 2010 Waipa Networks Business AwardsThe overall winner was announced to be:
The sell-out event, run by the two Chambers of Commerce operating in the Waipa District, (Te Awamutu and Cambridge) with major sponsor Waipa Networks, was the culmination of the Business Excellence Awards, Customer Service Awards and Customer Choice Awards. Nearly 300 entrants and supporters packed the Te Awamutu College hall for a ‘red carpet’ atmospheric dinner and dance during which all awards were announced. This year’s Supreme Winner, Beamish Gemtime Jeweller, scooped up awards for Excellence in Small Business (winner), Excellence in Innovation (winner), Excellence in Education and Training (Certificate of Commendation) and of course, the top award: 2010 Waipa Networks Business Awards Supreme Winner. Owners Kirsty and Richard Walker collected a $1000 cheque and the Supreme Winners trophy. The judges of the Excellence in Small Business Award said about Beamish Gemtime Jeweller: “Their vision “To create precious memories” is appealing, imaginative and well suited to the business. Leadership seems inclusive with a focus on teambuilding.” A total of seven excellence award categories continue to draw a large number of entries for this year’s competition. For the first time, text and email voting was used to determine the winner of the publicly nominated Customer Choice category in both towns (Central Café, Te Awamutu and Cambridge Chiropractic Clinic, Cambridge). Organisers were inundated with votes from loyal customers, more than double received in previous years. A succession of mystery shopping judges over the past six months resulted in awards for Best Customer Service in retail, trade, manufacturing and professional business sectors in the district. Te Awamutu and Cambridge Chambers of Commerce congratulate all finalists and winners, and thank the Awards sponsors for their commitment. It’s a great opportunity for all businesses within Waipa, no matter how large or small, to receive recognition for their achievements, and celebrate contributions that individual businesses have made to Waipa, with winners benefiting from prestige, profile and recognition.
